As a person of color and indigenous identifying person, Daisy cares about representation in primarily white spaces. Her philosophy on IDEA is that it does not need to be a public display/front for show or merit, but must be genuine and should always extend beyond the work environment and continue in our everyday lives.

Daisy has called out local and national organizations on the lack of representation and inappropriate, ignorant actions. This has led to some productive conversations as well as dismissiveness and invalidation from people and organizations.

In the same philosophy, anti-racism work should not be done by the BIPOC or underrepresented groups. It is the responsibility of all of society to do equal work to undo systemic problems.

Below are some of the projects I have been involved with.

Here are some of my favorite resources to have or begin difficult conversations about anti-racism and IDEA work in and out of STEM.

Periodic table of Scientists
Every month, different underrepresented chemists and scientists are celebrated. I made 8 posters celebrating diversity in STEM including, Black, Asian American, Pacific Islanders, Latin American, Indigenous to the Americas, LGBTQ+ STEMinists.
DEI committees
I have been a part of the conception DEI committee at the Sciencenter in Ithaca NY and the founder and chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) committee of the chemistry department at Ithaca College.
