About Me
Bio
Dr. Daisy is a first-gen, Mexican-American (indigenous to the Mexica) chemist, but a science communicator, and R-IDEA advocate at heart. She grew up without seeing a chemist that looked like her until she was 27 years old. Crazy and unnecessary!
Daisy graduated with a Chemistry B.S from University of California, San Diego. Upon graduation, she moved to the Midwest, where she earned her Chemistry PhD at Indiana University, Bloomington. During this time, Daisy discovered her passion for informal STEAM learning. Daisy was an Assistant Professor at private undergraduate institution. Her presence made a significant impact for the students of color in STEM on campus.
Today, Daisy is actively involved in sharing science to all ages- from infants to adults! She has developed STEM activities, given scicomm chemistry talks, and created curriculums for nature-based afterschool programs,

As an indigenous person of color, Daisy advocates for inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility in the STEM disciplines. She develops projects and activities to highlight Black, Indigenous, People of Color contributions to chemistry.

She is currently a science educator and communicator in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
